Rumor Mill

Student: Mrs. Hunsaker isn't going to be back until December 18th.

This is the rumor apparently going around at my school right now. I have been out sick all of this week so far and the students sure do like to make stuff up. I've never been on the end of the rumors before though. I must say it is kind of fun.
For all of you that do not know, I officially have the swine flu. Gotta love those germy students. I came down with a fever Sunday night and when the fever was still around on Tuesday I went to the doctor. The results came back positive for influenza A, of which swine flu is the only one currently going around. I have orders to not return to work until I have been symptom free for 24 hours. And to take my Tamiflu for the next 5 days. So I guess I will just sleep in, lounge on the couch and drink my juice. All while my students continue to speculate as to what happened to poor Mrs. Hunsaker. Maybe by next Monday, when I figure I will return, they will have me dead and buried in the local cemetary. Hahaha.
Don't worry I am already starting to feel better. I haven't had a fever all day so now I just need to kick this cough. I'll just keep enjoying my little vacation from school.

Darn this kid!! Seriously though, what must the mom have been thinking at this moment? Gross!

All Hallow's Eve

What better way to spend Halloween than a Renaissance Festival? Chris and I went with our friends Alex & Shandi, and David, Jenny & Ellie to the Texas Renaissance Festival. I love this time period and enjoyed seeing the costumes, acts and the food. I envied the gorgeous dresses and wish I had one of my own. I would wear it for Halloween every year. Maybe some day, sigh.

After we returned we bought pumpkins and carved them together, with a break in between to go to the ward Trunk-or-treat to eat some chili. The girls enjoyed carving the pumpkins and talking, while the boys watched sports and talked. It was great spending Halloween with friends.
Chris and I gnawing on our smoked turkey legs. mmmm... good! Our friends with an impressive horse. We watched some jousting, not quite like "A Knights Tale."The Pumpkins!!My masterpiece, simple but elegant.

Birthday wishes

I recently celebrated my birthday. We started out by going bowling with some friends, Shandi and Alex. Our other friends, Jenny and Dave, met up with us halfway through bowling. We decided that we needed to bowl more often together because most of us bowled some of our best games. Chris bowled 4 strikes in a row, he is ridiculous. After bowling we went to Pappasitos for the best fajitas ever (you are missing out Zach). Chris bought me a german chocolate cake to eat afterwards. On my birthday Chris made me a great dinner of steaks and then my friend Erica, her husband and three little girls made me cake and sang happy birthday. It was sweet of them to do that. Plus, there is nothing like cake and the birthday song. I even got to blow out candles. Chris bought me a wii fit, I am loving it, and a new bookshelf for my birthday. I love my bookshelf. It is much better than my dorm room bookshelf that I now have in my classroom. Now I just need more books to put in it. My parents bought me a BYU jersey to wear on college Wednesdays at school and my in-laws bought me Wii Mario Party. It was a good birthday and luckily I don't mind turning a year older yet. Thanks for all of the phone calls and texts.
